Joel Gettys

Joel graduated from SWCC School for Music Vocations with an A.A. in Performing Arts, and followed that up with a Bachelors in Philosophy and Russian Studies from Iowa State University in May of 2009. He has been playing gigs around the Des Moines area since 2004. He plays every other Saturday with a Guitar/Bass/Drums jazz trio at the Continental, frequently subs with the Salsa Vibe group (featuring JN instructor John Kizilarmut), plays with local jazz vocalist Max Wellman, with ISU jazz professor Mike Giles in an original group, the 3x5, and is currently playing with local songwriters Dustin Smith (Dustin Smith) and Ryan Stier (The River Monks).
